Our Vision
The institution we are building, and where it stands today.
Mercy Gate has a clear shape: a medical practice, a Care Fund, a physician network, a permanent endowment, and the institutions that will grow from them. Each is listed here with its current status.
In formation
Mercy Gate Medical practice
A physician-led primary care practice that serves insured and uninsured patients side by side, under one covenant of care. The California practice is being formed; Oregon is set up as a matching structure.
When the practice opens, every patient will receive the same care, from the same physicians, at the same standard — whether or not they can pay.
Committed; being stood up
The Care Fund
A separate fund inside Mercy Gate Foundation, protected by the Board, that helps pay for care for patients who cannot afford it. It follows the Islamic legal tradition of waqf (وقف) — a trust held for a purpose.
The Fund is being set up. When it formally opens, you will be able to give to it directly on the Give page. Until then, general gifts support the institution that is building it.
Small and growing
The Mercy Gate physician network
Mercy Gate operates in California and Oregon. The founder is the first physician; others will join under the Covenant. Physicians who want to learn what the Covenant asks can reach out.
Committed; being built
The permanent endowment (waqf)
The long-term financial base of Mercy Gate, designed as a permanent trust in the Islamic legal tradition. The original gifts are never spent; only the income they earn goes to the mission. Donors of any background can give to the endowment through planned giving.
Starts when there is data to report
Mercy Gate Research Institute
The research arm of Mercy Gate, run by Mercy Gate Foundation. It starts when there are patient results to report on — not before.
A years-out commitment
Mercy Gate Health Plan
A longer-term plan to build a nonprofit health plan that works alongside the medical practice — so that paying for care matches the way we deliver it.
Published when there is real data
The Promises Kept report
A yearly public report on how well Mercy Gate has kept its promises. It is published when there is real data to report.
Where we stand
Mercy Gate is at the beginning. The Foundation is set up and active. The medical practices are being formed. The physician network is small and growing. The Care Fund is real and being set up. The endowment is committed to and being built.
We share where we stand because what we are building cannot be built in private. We need the people who recognize this work — patients who want care that respects them, physicians who want to practice without compromising what they know, donors who want to build something that lasts — to join us.
