Our Ethics

What binds us.

Mercy Gate’s commitments are written down and kept inside the institution. This page describes them in plain language. The full documents are shared with the people who join the work.

What we stand for

Healing is never neutral.

Medicine is not just a technical skill. It is a moral one. The history of medicine includes both healing and harm — and medical institutions have too often looked away from what they were allowing. Mercy Gate exists to do something different.

Dignity

We treat human dignity as the first fact about every person who walks through our doors.

Side by side

We serve insured and uninsured patients side by side.

Refusal

We refuse to take part in care that wears away dignity, and we refuse to stay silent about institutions that do.

Covenant

We treat the work of medicine as a covenant — with our patients, with our communities, and with the generations to come.

01 — The Covenant

Three commitments, reaffirmed every year.

Every physician who joins Mercy Gate Medical commits to a Covenant. It holds them to excellence in the care they provide, to mercy in how they treat every person they serve, and to sacred trust in how they care for the institution and its resources.

The Covenant is more than a ceremony. It is the binding commitment that defines who can practice at Mercy Gate and on what terms. Patients can be confident their physician is held to it.

Excellence

Ihsanإحسان

To do the work beautifully and well — the standard of care every patient deserves.

Mercy

Rahmaرحمة

How every person is treated, regardless of who they are or what they can pay.

Sacred trust

Amanahأمانة

Caring for the institution and its resources as something held in trust, not owned.

02 — Who we partner with

A binding rule, not a marketing claim.

Mercy Gate Foundation chooses its partners, suppliers, investors, and funding sources with care. We work with organizations whose conduct fits our covenant and respects the dignity of every person we serve. Where an organization’s conduct does not, we do not work with them.

Our ethics committee reviews these relationships on an ongoing basis.

03 — AI in our work

AI never makes a clinical decision.

Where artificial intelligence supports our work, we hold it to the same standards we hold ourselves. Everything AI produces that touches a patient is checked by a licensed clinician. We tell you when AI is involved, we govern it under our ethics rules, and we hold it to the same Covenant that binds our physicians.

We will tell you when AI helps us think — and you will be able to see what it suggested and what your physician decided.

We welcome the conversation.
